D7
Key Insights & Our Expertise
Overview
Also known as the ‘passive income’ or ‘retirement’ visa, the D7 is a 4-month temporary stay visa, which is converted to a 2-year residency permit after you arrive in Portugal. It can be renewed for an extra 3 years, after which you can apply for permanent residence or citizenship.
The D7 is ideal for passive income earners looking to settle in Portugal for a few years or permanently.
Eligibility
- Non-EU citizen with clean criminal record.
- The main applicant must earn €920+ per month in passive income (rental, interest, dividends, pension, etc).
- + 50% for each adult dependant.
- + 30% for each child.
- Your eligibility will be confirmed during your free consultation.
Process
- Gather all documentation required for the D7 visa.
- Attend visa appointment in your home country & await approval.
- Collect your D7 visa (valid for 4 months).
- You’re free to move to Portugal and wait for your AIMA appointment, where you will convert your visa to a 2-year residency permit.
How we can help
Navigating the D7 process by yourself is complex, time-consuming, and incredibly stressful. Requirements change over time, bureaucracy is excessive, and there is rarely one straight answer for the requirements.
We offer a full D7 visa package, containing everything you need to obtain your residency and more, including a Portuguese bank account and tax number (NIF). For more on what’s included, see below.
